When we lived in CA we used to go camping in the Sierra National Forest, around the Dinky Creek area. A beautiful place!! We usually went with friends. We still had two teen daughters at home and one of our daughters and our friends son were boyfriend and girlfriend.

The first night after leaving 100 degree temps in the Central Valley it was much cooler than we anticipated. The guys were in one tent below us and us gals were in another tent higher up on the campground. My friend Carlee and I were so cold we started going through the suitcase to find something to keep us warm. We had not packed any warm clothes. I took a pair of Larry’s undershorts and put them on my head and took a pair of his socks and put one on each arm. Carlee did the same thing with her husbands shorts. Only thing is… he was a big man. When she put his shorts on her head, they just dropped down over her face like a depleted chef cap. We got so tickled and started cracking up laughing at each other. My girls just covered up in their sleeping bags dying of embarrassment. We camped for about a week. Perhaps I will blog about it one of these days. It was my first ever camping trip and I did not want to go at all. So there is a lot more to the story.

PS…when I came to your site today, I answered my own question about your R&R. I have been very busy the past two days and have not spent much time on the computer. Looks like a beautiful area where you went. I’m glad you could get away and enjoy some down time.

To Kami, "camping" means the hotel doesn't have a spa. I have to get away with my son from time to time, but he MOVES in the mountains and forests while I kind of... mosey. Glad you had a good time.

Oh... and I got my truck out. Never could figure out how to launch that boat...

Sounds like a fun trip. The lake looks really pretty.

The second photo is hilarious. I wonder if that's the owner of the truck and boat bent over there behind the boat. I bet he had gotten out of the truck to do something and left it in gear while it was still on the down slope toward the water.

Or, he could be a city slicker who has no clue you're supposed to back the boat down into the water, leaving the vehicle on dry ground! Wonder what he's going to tell his friends. And wife.

Cheers! And many blessings to you all today! Dee

When we lived on foreign soil, we were advised by a group of expats to leave the big city where we lived about once every quarter for at least a weekend, if not longer. We had planned retreats at actual retreat places and a few times we went to camps and 'retreated' for a few days. It was actually a needed time of release, rest and relaxation. We were all ( including the children) the better for it. We've tried to practice this here in the USA culture...doesn't work too well. Maybe we just don't plan hard enough, nor throrough (sp?) enough. Oh well, we're old now...a weekend of Hallmark movies, or blood and guts movies seem to do the trick..sometimes. ha

That was my favorite part of my last little vacation...the times of doing nothing!

I need more of that in my life.

Sometimes the best thing to do is nothing. and being less than two hours from home isn't bad either. Had a great time.

Glad you had some relaxation. The area looks beautiful.

Maybe that guy's truck didn't have "reverse?"
