Lust

During the School of Worship sponsored by Chorus Church last week, one of the speakers is a worship leader from a sister church … a guy who has quite the reputation for effects.

He can get sounds from his guitar that absolutely amaze me, all from various effects peddles and combinations and permutations (just thought I’d throw in that MATH term, meaning the effects are in a certain order … just wanted to impress myself one more time while I still can) of effects. I’m talking about one guitar sounding like a band!

Here is a picture of his effects board, complete with guys (and one gal) worshiping drooling.

And a close up.

And, once again, I struggled with lust. Maybe it’s time to stop thinking “guitars” and start thinking “effects!” Or, better, think acoustical. No need for all that stuff when you’re playing pure guitar.

You’ve got GarageBand, what more do you need? And I thought we were going to have a real article on “lust.”
    Peace.

[This is a real article on lust. All the other stuff you've read, heard, or were wanting to hear on the subject pale in comparison. I've played around in GarageBand and I can't figure it out.]

Hmm…Are you lusting or coveting? :)

    [Both!]

Our church guitarists lug those things around. They (both guitarists and accessories) are amazing.

[Not to be picky or anything, but they are not to be lugged around. They are affectionately held and tenderly escorted!]

Uh . . . “affectionately held and tenderly escorted?”

You’re DEFINITELY talking lust, Baby! Oops, I mean Greg.

And I’m really IMPRESSED today that you managed to squeeze an entire paragraph out of the word “permutation” and even give us it’s meaning. You DO have a right to impress yourself with that one! ha!

Great photos, as well. Which reminds me . . . there are some great photos featured in a blog post today (yesterday evening, actually) over at Finding Direction showing all of the winners of this summer’s competition. So, when you get through drooling over the sound effect/permutation board, come on by to check it all out.

    Cheers!

[For the most part, a woman can't understand the relationship between a guy and his guitars / effects / amps / etc, but we still love you ladies.]

See, everyone’s lust is different. That photo and description does not phase me…

    but you wanna talk tennis….

[There was a time in my life when I struggled with racket lust.]

    Donna’s right!

as for me it would be cameras :)

[To each his / her own, I suppose. I will say you work magic with your camera!]

If it has to be plugged in to make a sound, I not impressed, however if it is wooden and shiny, about the size of a Martin D-28 herringbone and sounds as if God smiles when you strum it, then I might be a little in lust with it.

[You're a purist to the core. But I tend to go more toward where you are than where this effects whiz-guy happens to be. I played my Alvarez last night at a worship gathering and it just sounds so sweet! Our leader was playing a 1955 Gibson acoustical, but we were both going through DI boxes. If I could just get them to understand how much sweeter the sound if it's mic-ed rather than put through a DI, which takes away most, if not all, acoustical presence.]
